Introducing Our Bands for 2026:
Muffin Men
The Muffin Men are: Ian Jump (guitar); Phil Oakes (bass); Mike Kidson (sax); Paul Ryan (drums); and Phil Hearn (keys).
The group formed in Liverpool in 1990, originally to play a one-off concert to celebrate FZ's fiftieth birthday. The band then went on to play for thirty unbroken years around the UK and Mainland Europe, becoming the UK's toppermost Zappa tribute band prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over those years, they undertook tours with Zappa alumni Ike Willis, Jimmy Carl Black and Denny Walley, and were also joined on stage by Don Preston, Bunk Gardner, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ray White, Ed Mann, Robert Martin, Mike Keneally, Arthur Brown, Nolan Porter and Candy Zappa.
To date, they have played Zappa Union, half a baker's dozen Zappanales, and every single MOO-AH (2013, 2015, 2017 & 2019), so we are dead chuffed that they are reuniting for us in 2026.
At MOO-AH, expect a wide variety of songs and instrumental favourites from Frank's vast repertoire, mixed with a soupçon of Scouse humour.
